How do we use your membership dues?  Your membership dues are used in educational programs and community outreach that helps St. Petersburg's residents and visitors learn more about our city's fine heritage.  An example is the SPP plaque programs, which commemorate historically significant spots around town with permanent markers that help make people more aware and appreciative of our historic resources.  Membership dues have helped pay for markers next to the historic buildings around Williams Park and to design a plaque that can be installed on any contributing structure within the Downtown National Register Historic District.

Here’s another example: We’re currently building on our successful application for the listing on the National Register of Historic Places of the St. Petersburg Downtown Historic District.  This designation in 2004 was the result of years of work and financial support by SPP members and support by the City of St. Petersburg.

And another: Current goals include increasing our membership base; providing a newsletter; sponsoring educational events; and participating with residents, governments, and historic preservation organizations in Pinellas County for better identification, appreciation, and protection of historic structures and sites.
