Join St. Pete Preservation and Bruce Stephenson, Professor of Environmental Studies at Rollins College and Ray Oldenburg, Professor Emeritus, University of West Florida for our first lecture series program.

The Great Recession instated "a spatial fix" where walk scores reveal real estate value, sustainability attracts capital, and historic places engender profits. Professor Stephenson will discuss the 1920’s designs of urban planner John Nolen who drew a series of prototype plans for St. Petersburg to direct the Great Florida Land Boom along sustaining lines; his plans may hold the key to our future. Professor Oldenburg will discuss “third places” – those special places outside of home and work that lend vitality to cities, make life more pleasant for residents, and promote greater interaction.

Program is free for all attendees. Reception featuring appetizers and cash bar begins at 6:30 pm.
