Join Preserve the Burg and the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association on a tour of St. Pete's first suburb.
The approximately two-hour tour starts at 10 am at the Craftsman House, 2955 Central Avenue, an American crafts gallery and cafe that was the original model home for Kenwood.
Upon leaving the gallery, tour goers will be led on a pleasant stroll through the neighborhood that has one of the largest concentrations of bungalow homes in the country.
The tour will focus on the history of the neighborhood, its revitalization and current activities & events.
The tour will end in the Grand Central District on Central Ave, a great area for lunch at one of St. Pete’s many small local businesses.
Tickets are $10 for PTB & HKNA members or $20 for any non-members. Reserve your spot online. Advance registration is required.
PTB and Historic Kenwood hosts a tour every 4th Saturday of the month.
Join Preserve the 'Burg Executive Director, Manny Leto, for a special road trip to Tampa's Ybor City.
Founded in 1886, Ybor City is one of the oldest urban neighborhoods on Florida's Gulf Coast. Once home to thousands of immigrant cigar workers who created a "city within a city," Ybor was a multi-lingual, multi-ethnic enclave that defined Tampa's urban development, economy, and politics in the early 20th century.
Today, Ybor City is both a local and national Historic District, home to some of the bay area's most most iconic architecture, from cigar factories and ornately-designed immigrant social clubs to "shotgun" cottages and updated commercial storefronts.
A 3rd-generation Tampa native, Manny has been involved in the Ybor City community for more than 20 years as a tour guide, community advocate, museum professional and one-time resident of the historic neighborhood.
Celebrate Preservation Month with FREE admission to the Museum of History, insights from local preservation experts, and more than a dozen local vendors and community groups.

Pinellas Point Vision-Aire Porch Party
Join Preserve the 'Burg and our host Ashley Burke, for a special evening in Pinellas Point!
After arriving in St. Petersburg in the early 1950s, Chicago architect Glenn Q. Johnson partnered with industrial designer George Ely to introduce Vision-aire homes on 69th Avenue South and Pinellas Point Drive South. George Ely was head of the design firm Visioneering, and president of Better Living, Inc., the firm that purchased and developed the 100-acre plat between 9th and 7th Streets South, from 58th Avenue South to Pinellas Point Drive South.
Vision-aire homes were designed with living areas that faced the southeast with jalousie windows, to invite breezes in from Tampa Bay. Over time, the Vision-aire name faded in use, and they came to be known as “bird-cage” homes for their unique and open-air design.
This is a special opportunity to visit and tour one of the original split-level Vision-aire homes.
$30 for PTB members and $35 for non-members.
