SPP’s porch parties are a great way to see preservation in action! Hosted every few months at a historic home the parties feature food, drink, great company and a tour and talk by the homeowner. Past party sites include: the historic Monticello apartments, saved from the wrecking ball in 2005 by relocation to the Old Northeast and lovingly restored to a private home; Flori-de-Leon cooperative condominium, former home to Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig; the home of local mid-century modern architect Bill Harvard; the Snell and Williams houses on the USF St. Petersburg campus, and a mid-century modern Glenn Johnson “Bird Cage” home.

March 7, 2017 - Historic Old Northeast - 116 9th Ave. NE.
Thanks to Maureen Stafford and Elinor Miranda, who own the 1925 beauty where our party will happen. The home had been badly neglected but now the finishing touches to a beautiful restoration are being completed. Maureen knows the ins & outs of restoring old beauties (she will be there to explain some of the secrets on how it is done) and is a SPP preservation award winner for her work on other homes.
June 30, 2016 - The Historic Snell Building - 405 Central Ave.
The Snell Building has it all: history, charm, incredible architecture and a location in the heart of downtown! This special porch party will take place in the 1920's home of Bob's Cafeteria at the Snell. Building tours will be offered - from the basement, to the arcade and up to the third floor
