2004 PRESERVATION AWARDS
About 85 members and
guests attended the 2004 Preservation Awards Reception at the
Renaissance Vinoy Golf Club (Sunset Country Club) on May 13. The City of
St. Petersburg appeared to be the evening's top winner: of the 16
properties recognized by the awards, two are owned by the city, seven
are located in the city's Midtown redevelopment district and two are
owned by city staff members. Mercy Hospital, Royal Theater, and the
Sunken Gardens (Sanitary Market) Building were among the high profile
buildings receiving awards. Jim Brennan, organizer of St. Petersburg
Preservation's downtown walking tours, was named Preservationist of the
Year.
